Die
grosse Neuheit 1965 war der Big Block Motor mit 396 cubic inches der
425 PS leistete. Das tröstete über den Verlust der Einspritzmotore
hinweg. Diese Motorvariante war von aussen leicht an der neuen Motorhaube
mit der Lufthutze in der Mitte zu erkennen. Die Einspritzmotore sollten
erst 1982 wieder ihr Debüt feiern. Um die zusätzliche Kraft
zu bremsen, erhielt die Corvette Scheibenbremsen an Vorder- und Hinterachse.
Erstmals zum Einsatz kamen für den 65er Jahrgang die Sidepipes.
